The demand for faster processors, larger capacity memory and storage continues unabated. The demand stems from next-gen discoveries in science and medicine, major strides in art,  education, computational imaging, robotics and automation, transportation, logistics, agriculture, data analytics, and machine learning. In any industry we look at there are major advances all requiring faster processors, more memory, and enhanced storage.

The question remains are dram prices going to rise? In the short term perhaps not. The reason being PC and Server manufacturers are holding 2.5 months of inventory and are buying very cautiously. The DRAM manufacturers continue their production and hence there is an oversupply in the market.

As buyers, we must keep in mind the effects of the geopolitical situation. Measure the effect of engineers in China resigning from their positions. The effect on the market of the trending DXY. Any of these situations can adversely affect the market prices of DRAM, semiconductor components, processors, and storage and networking products going forward.

Hence we recommend continuing with upgrading for current and immediate future needs early and letting the events unfold as they may. However, we must remain prepared and strong in case the market turns towards the higher side and plan accordingly now.

Notes:
*RDIMM, also known as Registered Dual In-Line Memory Module, adds a register, which buffers the address and command signals between Dynamic Random-Access Memory modules (DRAM) on the DIMM and memory controller. RDIMM is used to give better steadiness and scalability and ordinarily performs better compared to unregistered memory.

**LRDIMM represents a load-decreased double inline memory module, utilized in servers that upholds higher densities than RDIMMs and contains a memory support (MB) chip. LRDIMMs are valuable in memory-concentrated applications in data centers, cloud & distributed computing, and high-performance computing (HPC).
