The following tables shows the different types of ethernet cable used for Ethernet Cabling. You may have come across these as Cat 5, Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat 6a, and Cat7, and wondered what is the difference and benefit of each. The basic differentiation between these ethernet cable types is first how far the data can be transmitted, and second the extent of shielding on the cable wires to reduce noise and crosstalk for data to transmit securely.
